Private Ferries and Cruise Ships
Alcatraz CruisesOperated by Hornblower Cruises, Alcatraz Cruises is the only ferry service that brings passengers in and out of Alcatraz Island. The price for riding the ferry is included in the overall admission cost to the historic Alcatraz Prison and Museum, in which reservations can be made online. Two of the ferries, MV Alcatraz Clipper and MV Alcatraz Flyer, operate partly using wind turbines as a way to save fuel from being dumped into San Francisco Bay. A third, smaller boat, MV Hornblower Hybrid, operates exclusively using wind power to generate lift and operates between San Francisco, Alcatraz, and Angel Island.
